Project leader for genetics and breeding of forage and turf grasses specializing in the development of cool season perennial forage and turf grasses for north central Texas. Major breeding emphasis is on Texas bluegrass and Texas bluegrass x Kentucky bluegrass hybrids. Other breeding activities involve Kentucky bluegrass, Tall fescue and switchgrass. From this program Reveille hybrid bluegrass has been released and Syn 1 Texas bluegrass is in the process of being released. Other activities involve the evaluation of new forages and turfgrasses for their performance in North central Texas. Evaluate switchgrass biomass as an alternate fuel.
