Joan Jacobsen, PhD is Extension's state Urban Program Director, serving the 21 largest counties in Texas for program expansion, building program capacity, and coordination of interpretation activities with elected officials.  She also works on special initiatives including serving as the Texas AgriLife Extension Service program lead for the exciting new Urban Living Laboratory (ULL), a public-private partnership between the Texas A&M University System and Realty Appreciation.  The project, located adjacent to the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Dallas, includes developing 73 acres of multi-family housing, office, retail, and hospitality properties accessible for researchers to explore comparisons of different products, processes or practices, such as energy and water use patterns, and human dimensions of why people make environmentally friendly choices.
