Wildflower Garden at

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge

The Wildflower Garden at the Visitor's Center at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge was in full bloom this spring.  All of the plants in the Wildflower Garden were contributed by the Grayson County Master Gardeners and have survived under very rugged conditions.  The winecups and white gaura were stunning this spring, and the newly planted turk's cap, Texas betony, Texas phlox, and pink gaura add to the collection.  Eventually, the Wildflower Garden will have something in bloom all season long.

To find Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, take Refuge Road west off Hwy 1417, just north of where Hwy 1417 crosses Hwy 691, near Perrin Field.   Once you're on Refuge Road, drive slow enough to savor the wildflowers and the birds.  It's a gorgeous drive that never palls!

You'll know you've arrived when you see the Visitor Center on your right (it looks just like a government building built in the 1960s; you can't miss it).
