The TAMU – Dallas Center is located in a rapidly expanding metropolitan
area creating a variety of unique soils-related research needs for the citizens, municipalities, industries, and other organizations in North Central Texas. Urban soils are usually in some state of modification due to construction, development, landscaping, gardening, or a myriad of other anthropogenic activities. Consequently, our research mission has been to plan, conduct, and summarize research directed towards activities that affect chemical, physical, and biological properties of urban soils, water movement through soils, plant persistence and performance, and water quality and quantity. Particular emphasis has been on soil amendments and products that improve plant performance in the poorly permeable clay-textures soils of the Northern Blacklands of Texas.
