Objective:
Evaluate the ability of nanophase iron oxide coated natural zeolites (FeZeo) to improve nutrient retention and overall grass performance in a sand-based golf putting green.

Methodology:
Greenhouse lysimeters were constructed and filled with root zone mixes containing 1) 100% sand, 2) sand + 5% FeZeo, 3) sand + 10% FeZeo, or 4) sand + 20% FeZeo.  The FeZeo was initially treated with a soluble complete nutrient solution before mixing with the sand.  Crenshaw Creeping Bentgrasss was established on each of the lysimeters.  Fertilizer was periodically added to the 0, 5%, and 10% FeZeo lysimeters to make up for the initial deficit in nutrients compared to the 20% FeZeo lysimeters.  Leachate samples were collected an analyzed for pH, EC, and nutrients.  Grass clippings were collected, weighed and analyzed for total nutrient content.
