Urban Forestry at Dallas

The Dallas Center serves as North Texas’ office of the Texas A&M Forest Service, helping local communities to conserve the forests, trees, and natural environments of Texas for future generations.

Increasing and conserving urban and suburban tree populations

The Texas A&M Forest Service urban foresters based at The Dallas Center provide communities with critical information on increasing and conserving urban and suburban tree populations across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Our community forestry mission involves overarching consultation in the selection, planting, and long-term care of valuable trees and forested areas of our cities, neighborhoods, and communities. Urban foresters bring together influential public and private parties to develop multi-faceted solutions to local tree problems.

Across the state, the Texas A&M Forest Service identifies and trains local leaders to help increase public awareness of the value of urban trees, raise the skill levels of local tree workers, and set quality standards for tree planting and care. Urban forestry efforts work holistically to guide communities toward sustainable management of important local forests, which must be managed to sustain community livability and quality of life.
